A Picture Requiring No Words Whatsoever

  1. I love the color and textures of this image and the nice open space at the bottom. Nice angle too. I see an artist or maybe a worker ( I think artist because of the images on the fridge and what looks like paint on the welders clothing). It looks like we are in a working shop of some sort and the man is in action. I see a bike so it makes me think it belongs to the worker and this person might be young or lives a healthy lifestyle or has little income to afford a car. This is just the viewer loading their own information into the image. :)

  2. Well, I see a welder (right?) and lots of tools. I really don't know anything about welding so I couldn't say what exactly is going on. I assume he is an artist (painting on fridge) and is working on some piece of metal art. I think it's a really beautiful composition with great light and color. I'm really drawn first to the face on the fridge...

  3. The lighting of the hoses and the empty floor at the bottom of the image nicely balances all the parts toppled on the top third. The picture on the fridge is engaging but doesn't seem to say anything about what the figure is doing except maybe that the work is dangerous. I can't tell what or why he is working in this shop but the picture of the action he is doing itself is beautifully captured.

  4. I feel this is a very beautifully captured image. It definitely captures a welder at work but it is a bit of a mystery as to what he is working on. I feel that the stenciled image on the fridge could be a sign that this is an artist's workshop but I feel that it can not be a concrete sign of that. The tools on the shelves make me believe that this is an established workshop that seems to be used often. The bike in the background feels like it could be the welders personal bike or something that is being worked on around the shop.

  5. At first I assumed just metal worker, but seeing the art on the fridge to the left, one can assume this is a facility for an artist. We see a man either cutting or welding something. There is not much else going on. The environment seems to be more important than the action taking place.

  6. I automatically thought this was an artist because of the surroundings. It seems more like a studio than a commercial space. He seems very focused but I guess that you should be when you are welding. Other than the obvious notion that this person is welding I am not sure what else is going on.

  7. This is a beautifully captured photograph with respect to the composition, lighting and the colors. The story seems very simple and straight-forward, just a welder/artist working away at a project of somesort. The story is hard to find because there is not too much else to draw from context, seeing as the man's face is covered/hidden and there is not too much else telling us about the subject. However, the spray painted (?) face on the refrigerator hints at perhaps a more artistic and playful environment reflecting upon the studio/work space as well as the welder himself.

  8. This photograph is incredibly clear in intent and is probably the best fitting to the project criteria that I've seen. This man is obviously hard at work in his workshop cutting a piece of metal for mechanical or artistic purposes. The incredible vantage point encompasses the textures and lighting of a workshop to a great extent, promoting the subject matter of labor very well.

  9. I think my original comment got deleted or i didn't save it. Love the play of light on this photograph. It's pretty simple and straight forward: someone welding. I don't know what exactly, but it looks to be more of his own personal space/shop. (Or maybe I just haven't seen many fridges with faces painted on them in commercial environments) I love the angle and the intertwined cords. Definitely a beautiful capture of a moment in time.
